Paula...another great post and it looks like your readers think so, too.

You are right, it much easier to encourage others than to do it for yourself, but this post has some good insight that should help most people improve their self image. How nice it would be to live in a world full of positive people.

As for PaPaGrizz, I have a few words I can teach his Grandkids to use on him. That should liven up his mountain some.

Paula you have done it again!

The words to remove from my vocabulary hits home.

I will reserve the right to use "NO" on my Grand Kids.

Take Care,

Kevin, thanks for your kind comment. Agggh, no, I didn't know that - I just wanted something `pretty' to break up the text a bit and thought it might fit - I'd better look for something else!

Omar, as always your comments are much appreciated by myself and, I'm sure, my readers. And no, you didn't lose me.

Having two small children, like most parents I am guilty, I suppose, of introducing them to the word NO but on the plus side I do think that I try to instill in them a sense of self-worth and an optimistic attittude. I think it's much easier to encourage others than it is oneself

Paula,

It's always such a pleasure to read your stuff! This post was like a mini e-book for me! You are such a skillful writer and your topics are always spot on! What a gift you are.

My 2 cents...

Attitude is everything. Success is 90% mental and only 10% physical. I read a book many years ago by Dr. Shad Helmsetter tittled "What to Say When You Talk To Yourself"

There are 2 basic things that stayed with me from that book.

I learned that... most humans have heard ONE word more often than any other word in their life (excluding their name.) Wanna know what it is?? 'NO'

The word 'NO' is instilled in us since early childhood.. 'NO Don't do that!' 'No! Get down from there!' etc. etc.

This is what instills apprehension in us when we're older. That's a Psychological fact. Now get this... Want to know what is the second thing that stifles our success?

Residual Self Image... Its what YOU think about yourself or better yet, what you say to yourself in your mind as you think. When we repeat something negative over and over agin about ourselves to ourselves we basically convince ourselves of it!

Did I lose you? (Kinda lost my self for a second there LOL) Well, my point is that we might avoid doing something because we've convinced ourselves we stink at it.

This is what gives rise to a lack self confidence and the aura (I spelled it right that time :-)) that you emit when you communicate.

Solution: TRAIN yourself to speak positive TO YOURSELF. Remove the words 'NO' and 'CAN'T' from your minds vocabulary. Repeat positive things about yourself over and over again in your mind when you think. This is action will train you to Think Positive About Yourself.

When you are positive on the inside, everything on the outside automatically gets better!

To Your Success,
Omar

Good article. Love your busting of negative language.

BTW, do you know what the Kanji in your picture means? I ask because you have an old Chinese saying, and the Kanji says "Nihon", which means "Japan"
