Become A Best-Selling Book Author in 1 Hour
| by Paula Brett |A few weeks back my friend, John Thornhill, blogged about another income stream that he’d added to his arsenal. And I thought to myself, “sugar, why didn’t I think of that? Of course……” [cue light-bulb moment].
What was especially weird was that I actually HAD “thought of that” a few years before…. and I’d actually gone as far as to do something about it. So what did I do wrong? And what was the “brilliant idea”?
Well, let’s answer the second question first. The idea!
John decided to turn one of his best-selling “eBuuuwks” into a real life, physical buuuwk (just joshing with you, John
) And in doing so, he’s exposed himself to a much wider audience.
How so?
Well, now that he is the author of a physical book, which has its own official ISBN number, his book can be seen on the world’s leading online bookstores such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
And that’s not all….
He has yet another product to sell on eBay. With the current eBay rules you can’t sell an eBook as a digitally delivered item. However, now that he’s converted his eBook to a book, he instantly has another type of product to list.
He’s also created another traffic generation system because he still adds his links back to his existing products, just as he does in his eBooks….
… and yet another way to generate an affiliate income. Yes, he can still generate an affiliate income from his book.
Pretty cool, huh?
So where does my big mistake come into all this?
Well, after I’d read his blog post I thought, wow, I’m going to turn my best-selling eBook Operation Ebook into a `real book’. And then I remembered that I had actually opened an account with Lulu.com a few years before, in 2005 to be exact.
I seem to remember I was working on my first eBook, a babies name eBook, actually, (I cringe when I look at it now) and I was looking for a way to turn it into a PDF. OK, OK, so now, of course, I know that I can do this really easily with Open Office, but at the time I didn’t know this. That’s when I stumbled across Lulu.
I created the book and then, to be honest, I completely forgot all about it. Other things came on the scene, I was selling the eBook digitally on eBay and the `Lulu stuff’ just went out of my head.
And so did the login details of my account :0 Yep, that was me, flitting from one “next best thing” to another — I’m sure you all know the scenario?
Anyway, when John had the clever idea of showing everyone the process of turning your eBooks into books and creating a totally comprehensive, step-by-step video package that does just that, I begged and cajoled a sneak peak. Cheeky, I know….. but if you don’t ask, you don’t get [bats eyelashes in a sickening way]
You know me… I’m a sucker for a good old rummage, and I have to tell you, I’m so excited about these videos and this “turn all my eBooks into physical books” business, that I want to get testing straight away. A lot of fantastic things have happened at Lulu since I last visited in 2005
So I’m actually going to see if I can create my book in an hour, as John claims on his website http://www.ebook-2-book.com Yep, that’s right, I could have my own book up and running and for sale in an hour….
Now, I’m not promising that I’m going to be back posting in an hour with the finished product… think I’m going to have to get the stop-watch out as I’ve got bath-time, bed-time stories, dishwasher filling and some dirty clothes to put in the machine… but I’m going to be really strict, get the stop-watch out and report back with my results.
If you don’t want to wait to see if it can be done and are chafing at the bit to get started on your own project you can grab the package here http://www.ebook-2-book.com
I tell you what, I’ll run a little competition (this’ll keep me on my toes)
The first two people to email me with their Clickbank receipt number, after purchasing eBook 2 Book through my link AND to post a comment below about which of your products you’re going to turn into a physical book and why you think it’ll make a good physical book — I’ll send them through the post, absolutely free, a copy of the `physical’ version of Operation Ebook that I’m going to create using John’s eBook 2 Book video course.
I’ll also offer 5 copies of the downloadable version to the next five people (same stipulations as above — a receipt number and a comment
)
Please send emails here
So what are you waiting for? Get publishing http://www.ebook-2-book.com
P.S. What a nice surprise!! I just found my old password and login to Lulu.com buried in the nether regions of my `puter, and, can you believe this…. that book I was telling you about, that I’d just abandoned, forgotten all about, has sold two copies! How cool is that? And that’s just through someone finding it on Lulu – there were no links on any of my websites, or in any of my autoresponder messages etc. Nothing.
Yes, the princely sum of 8 quid is now mine… I’m off out on the town!
I’ll report back later
If you would like to be notified the next time I make a post, sign up for Email Alerts or subscribe to the RSS feed. Many thanks for reading

Hi Paula,
What a great idea! I know John comeswith the lots of them as well as Intergety, which is very rare and difficlult soetimes to find under over hyped sales copies (they do work nicely by the way, but it seemes often to me as “praying on the weak” tacktiques
))
Anyway, thank you for sending me that email letting know what other new products John camme up with
… and You blog looks great by the way. You could not email me your commentluv info, could you? And recommend the person who is responsible for design & layout of your great Blog?

@Kristine, yes indeed, John is a very prolific chap isn’t he? Thanks for the kind words about how my blog looks. I was actually thinking that it’s about time for a revamp.
@Stuart – go for it, I’m just adding the finishing touches to mine and I’m sure yours will be as successful as your eBook is proving

Hi Paula,
Another impressive site. I only came across your link at Parkesy’s a little while ago while I was swanning around. I haven’t seen you around the traps apart from there. You must be the lady that Alex was talking about at the Mod 4 Webinar marathon (I think). Apologies if you are not. I’m getting so confused with who is who now. There are just so many people.
I’m a bit of a book writer myself. Actually, more than a “bit” – LOL. I have written many e-books plus I have recently completed a 200,000 word crime thriller novel.
My site looks like a Lada Niva compared to your nice sleek site – LOL. But I do have a lot of people over at Gary-Land and a massive amount of content. Come and take a look.
Paula, I’d like to know what you and everyone else thought about the Profit Pulling Project Newsletter #1.
You can make your comments here:
http://motivationselfesteem.com/talk/?p=258
Let’s give Parkesy some feedback of what you did or didn’t like.
While you are over at Gary-Land you might like to see what I have been up to with regards to traffic and what Alex Jeffreys was talking about in Module 4. It’s my latest post (at the top of the page). Just have a look around and leave a comment if you feel so inclined.

Hi Gary
Than you so much for stopping by and for your kind words about my blog. Your blog looks fine, I’ve spent far too long mucking about tweaking mine over the years, probably time better spent on the content. The main thing is, you have made an excellent start and you can tend to the cosmetics as you go along. I’ll be shooting over there today to take a closer look
Yes, I certainly was on Alex Jeffreys Mod 4 websinar and wasn’t it just a marathon? I think I’m in a daze at the moment, I’m soooooooooooooo tired, lol. Don’t know how he must be feeling trailing round the shops with a toddler!!!
I definitely think that last night’s was the best module yet. Looking forward to the rest.

Hey, Paula – went scouting around to find your blog after getting your kindly evite to be a friend on the Fortunate 500. I’ve had a look round your site, and have definitely decided I want to be just like you when I grow up…
I’ll certainly add the link to my modest site should you have a spare moment between earning a living and shopping for Christmas and writing books and whatnot to check it out. I’m not sure what spot on the Alex Jeffreys’ Student Bell Curve I currently occupy, but I’m working hard at it! Always keeping a weather eye out for people with more knowledge than me (like THOSE are rare!) whose meaty brain-bones I can pick. I figure the more I meet, the less I bug any one person for help.
Anyway, gotcha bookmarked and blogrolled. I’ll be back to learn more and thanks for helping your fellow students! You’re a hero!

The great thing is about Alex’s 500 is that we such a diverse crowd with differing levels of experience – exciting. Anyway I’m always happy to help out where I can, so don’t be afraid to shout if you need me

Hi, Paula
Only came across your blog today after clicking the link in your excellent PlanetSMS Edit Guide that i downloaded from D9.
I have not been around for sometime because of health issues and in and out of hospital.
I loved this post about having physical books made, it is something that i have contemplated for a while whilst in hospital as that is all i really had to do in there. I wrote 28 chapters of my life for my children to have so that they know what life was like in the 50′s and onwards.
Hope to visit your blog whenever you udate with new posts.
Thanks for a great read.

Hi Vince
I wondered why we hadn’t seen you around for a while. I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t been well – it sounds like you were very productive in hosptial, though. It would be wonderful for your children if you could turn your life story into a physical book for posterity.
I take the hint about updating my blog, arrghh
Take care, Vince

Hi Paula,
Thanks for a great post, that is a terrific idea especially since you get to open up the world of selling on Amazon and ebay and creating a whole new stream of affiliates. I just downloaded your Operation Ebook book last night (thank you for the gift as a fellow Alex student), I hope to get it read asap. I know we all have books inside us and sometimes it’s hard to know how to get it out and on paper.
I’ve subscribed to your RSS feeds and will be keeping up with your blog. I’ve also added your blog to my blogroll.
Keep up the great work and thanks for all your help, I’ve also sent you a question about a specific plug-in for my blog (to your support desk).
Have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!

Hi Kevin
Thank you so much for taking time to comment. I do hope that Operation eBook helps you with your own product creation.
I received your question on my support desk and have now answered it – do let me know how you get on with the plugin – I hope it’s not too complicated to set up – I know some of them can be a bit mind blowing.
Take care

Paula, I just stumbled upon your blog through the Fdy Traffic Report and I have to say that I like your style. I subscribed to your feed.
A few months back, a fellow Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor told me that he was a published author. We continued the conversation and he told me about Lulu.
I wrote a book on Tae Kwon Do and self defense years back, and I’m currently writing two more, one about Social Media Marketing, and the otehr on how to overcome the effects of discrimination in the U.S.
You awoke the lightbulb on top of my head and for that I say thank you.

Just “discovered” your blog … love your style; am bouncing around reading old posts. Having great fun!
And when you wrote:
“Yep, that was me, flitting from one “next best thing” to another — I’m sure you all know the scenario?”,
I started grinning ear to ear. Working hard to break that habit, but… Hope you’re doing better, too!
